We are on the hurty end of a condo boom in Minneapolis too.
I bought an entry level one before the whole real estate market fell.
There are 4 little condos for sale on my block and who knows how many pricy ones around town.
I fear I will own this little condo forever.
I feel for Miami.
I hear ya. I got my condo here in Miami and I think I'm gonna just have to rent it out after I grow out of it (or away from it) in the future. You should see outside my window at work how many cranes are all over the place with half finished buildings below them.
that DOES suck! the market is coming down in the dc area as well, so we're glad that we didn't buy a condo before the wedding. in the past 3 months, the buildings we've looked at have come down over $80k in price. now it's just a matter of figuring out when the prices have hit rock bottom and snatching up a place before the prices increase again.
your plan to rent it out later is a good idea. you might as well build as much equity as you can!
