A Whole New World....

We're now a week into 2008, and New Year's seems like a distant memory. Like most people, resolutions are a fleeting fancy - they are cocktail talk as we wait for the ball to drop, and little more. The Monday after New Year's Eve, we've forgotten our resolve to eat less, spend less, exercise more and be all around better people.
2008, however, is a whole new world. While we might not have that magic lamp to rub and make our problems disappear, we can take solace in the fact that things are indeed different. For one, we're older - with that, we hope we're wiser. We've endured and grown from the events of our past, and we hope that it has shaped us into a better person - more capable of facing the challenges ahead.
We are a nation on the brink; 2008 will be an election year. Whether you're political or not, this offers a great deal of change. Depending on who you listen to, we are on the cusp of a new era. Come November, we will likely see our first African American or Female president. I for one find this exhilirating. It seems like we are at the dawn of a new day - everything is fresh and dewy with opportunity.
Our world is changing with each day. Yesterday, a television manufacturer announced it's new pride and joy - a set that is 11 feet tall and boasts a screen that is 12.5 feet from corner to corner. We operate our cellphones and Ipods without a thought - as technology grows faster, smaller and more readily available. Can you imagine what is 12 months away? matter where you are in your own world, consider where we are as a whole. It's a great time to be alive. This year, I'm working on changes for myself. I hope to get a new job, doing something I love and am passionate about. I hope to blog more, putting down my thoughts and aspirations. And, I hope to continue to move forward.
Happy New Year- even if it's belated.
