The Clinton Marriage
Someone has been watching the Clintons very closely lately. They have counted the number of days they are apart and together - and even how many hours they see each other.
This leads to my question...if Hilary Clinton runs for President will her marriage with Bill Clinton be a way of deflecting from the issues? Will the media focus more on her ability to be a wife rather than her ability to run the nation?
It is obvious someone is doing their homework now so when the time comes they are ready to attack. This is unfortunate because nobody ever questions a President's ability to be a good father (look at Bush and his drugged/drunk daughters) - but once a woman is named as a potential leader everyone wants to know whether her marriage is stable or if her kids were raised well.
There was also some gossip over the past few months that Condoleeza Rice was going to run for President. Who knows if that is true - but do you think that her status as a single woman would affect her campaign? Possibly the public will see that she is so focused on her career that the presidency will be her #1 priority.
What do you think?

Clintons are so American royalty. even celeberites don't get this kind of constant, unpitying, attention over the course of more than a decade (Clinton was elected in '94).
I just read the NYTimes article that Drudge references and it's not as tabloid-ish as it sounds, it's actually a concise look at their marriage in relation to Hilary's still-unconfirmed run for the White House in 2008. Worth a read. Although when he starts with the number of weekends they've actually spent together since 2002, that's when it starts to get a little weird.
