The New Miami

Good article in the NYTimes about the building boom in Miami, specifically about "celebrity" architects creating signature buildings in Miami.

Even though the construction towers and hollowed-out husks of soon-to-be-buildings make the current Miami skyline look a little like a row of nasty, rotten, teeth, I do believe Miami has a shot at being one of those "futuristic" cities of glass we all remember from sci-fi movies. I think it's great the mayor of the city is promoting this endeavor and bringing these big names with lots of experience to the city. I'm really looking forward to seeing some of these 21st century marvels go up.

As long as the developers and construction companies keep paying kickbacks to the Commissioners, there will be no end to the amazing amounts of beautiful skyrise buildings on the coastline.

Well even though they keep building more and more, I have to admit I do admire nice architecture. Let's just hope they put more trees back in!
