The Office - Season 3, Episode 3 - "The Coup"

Nothing gets rid of the Monday Blues better than....Varsity Blues! It is Movie Monday at Dunder Mifflin! It all started with training videos, then a medical video, then 1/2 hour increments of Varsity Blues and a little Entourage (the same episode 6 times!). Entourage!

I really want to work there. Scranton gets Movie Night. Stamford gets to play video games.

We find out that Jim and his co-workers are in a heated game of "Call of Duty" and Jim isn't very good at the game so his co-workers are a bit fed up - except one....It appears that the girl who sits behind him is starting to have the hots for Jim....but what about Pam?

While the Scranton crew is watching Varsity Blues Jan shows up and Angela (who refuses to take part in Movie Monday) rats everyone out.

Jan: How would a movie increase productivity, Michael? How on earth would it do that?
Michael: People work faster after.
Jan: Magically.
Michael: No, they have to, to make up for the time they lost, watching the movie.
Jan: No.

Then Angela tries to convince Dwight that he would be better at running this office and Dwight should contact Jan and try to become manager of the office. Dwight doesn't want to turn his back on Michael - but Angela convinces him. He meets with Jan at Liz Claiborne outlet (how does he know she likes that store?) and he lays down his thoughts all while indulging in a mid-day breakfast of waffles and pancakes.

Dwight: I could save the branch.
Jan: Really.
Dwight: If you let me run it.
Jan: Okay.
Dwight: Okay I can run it?

Jan calls Michael after the meeting and tells him what happened and that he needs to get control of his office. Michael tries to corner Dwight into telling him what happened with Jan. Dwight doesn't cave in. Michael finally brings Dwight into his office and says that Dwight is the new Manager and Michael is being demoted. Dwight's power immediately goes to his head. I totally saw this one blowing up in Michael's face.

Pam: I have this little vacuum cleaner that’s broken. If Dwight doesn’t work out, maybe that could be manager.

Finally Michael turns the tables and tells Dwight that he really knows what is going on and now Dwight begs for forgiveness. Michael asks Dwight to "hug it out, bitch" because that is how men get over their problems. Of course Michael isn't satisfied there. Dwight has to stand on his desk with a sign that says "liar" on it and Dwight has to do Michael's laundry for one year.

Dwight posted a funny thing on his blog about power. Check it out.
