Project Runway - Season 3 - Episode 12 - Reunion

I always think how meta and weird it is to recap an episode which essentially is a recap in itself. But then again there are some new things we don't get to see during the normal episodes that we get a glimpse of during the reunion. My real question is, why didn't we see any of these things during the regular episodes?? Some of the designers seemed so much more interesting during the reunion then they ever did on the actual show. There was a lot more laughter too, which I really feel was lacking this season.

Ok enough of the rant....

The reunion starts with all of the designers minus the final four (Uli, Jeffrey, Laura and Michael) and Keith Michael.

someone is missing....

The designers are then asked about their personal off screen experiences after they were auf'd. Nobody can recognize Bradley (he looks really different). Vincent is turned on (he can't help it). Malan seems gracious and appreciative. He showed at fashion week. And Angela - wow! I can't walk through the street of LA without getting mobbed. (Mobbed? Really?) She loves it too.

Someone told me I sucked.

The designers are then asked who should have been in the final four...Katy says Alison, Vincent says Kayne, Stacey says Robert and Robert agrees with that one! How cute!

Everyone loves us.

Yes, yes, I know...Final Four IS ALL ME!

Then the final four come out...and Michael turned into a prepubescent boy!

Here we are!

Thought I was sexy then? Look at me now!

The designers are thrown some fan questions. The fans want to know if Laura owns a pair of jeans. Guess what?? She doesn't. Surprised? No, neither am I. (wow this is boring)

Couldn't you ask me why I am a fabulous bitch?
Come on give the bloggers something to write about!

And Heidi says Tim doesn't wear jeans either. He is very James Bond. Oooh sexy!

Heidi then brings up the topic that this season we get a final 4 instead of a final 3. I really liked Alison's hand dance to the boom boom music when people get auf'd. I do the same thing each week!

What are the designer's reactions to there being a final 4?

Whoop-de-doo.

And finally they bring out the drama. Welcome Keith Michael.

Thanks for having me!

Keith suggests that that there was foul play. He doesn't think the outcome was fair. He first says the contract was silent about bringing in designing books. The other designers catch him on that lie. Designer Rules in BIG BLACK LETTERS.

I am not buying it.

Then he says the books were taken away when he got on the show and then suddenly re-appeared. "Uncomfortable, isn't it?" That was sleazy of him to say. Heidi says she couldn't imagine something like that happening. Hmmm sounds like a lie. Then Tim asks if he is suggesting a conspiracy - and he denies that, too. Huh?

Yea, not buying it.

And then they bring up the fact that Keith left for a few hours without anyone knowing where he went. Keith says he told the producer he needed to leave because everyone was gossiping about the books, and so they showed him the door. The designers call him out on that as well. Uli says you can't even go to the bathroom without someone following you. Heidi talks about how you can't even use a cell phone. Sounds like Keith is stuck and can't dig out of this one. Better off shutting up now before you dig yourself a deeper hole.

He is full of lies.

Tim says let's just drop it because we can debate forever over it. And of course we have to listen to the mighty Tim - he knows how to keep the show moving.

After we take a breather from Keith's lies we get to something cute - a Tim vocabulary lesson.

Michael says Tim Gunn is a dictionary. He couldn't get half of the things Tim says.

Mita-what? Mita-who?

Some words Tim likes to use: Mitigate. Faux bois. Consternation. Sturm and Drang. Caucus. Securitaus (I have no clue what that was). Circuitous. Ambivalent. Placate. Contrivance. Egregious. (too many to type!!)

We then find out Tim is not a practicing designer - the only Tim Gunn originals are fine arts - paintings, drawings and sculptures.

Then we get a designer's vocabulary lesson. "Turn about is fair play. " Very funny clip session...

Laura - "Serious Ugly"
Robert - "Boring"
Vincent - "It turns me on"
Bradley - ????? (a bunch of random noises, hums and clicks.)

Heidi asks the designers what it was like to work with Tim. Uli says Tim was like a daddy!

Heidi then brings up an interview Vincent did with EW where he says Tim Gunn was trying to bring him down and was bad mouthing him. Vincent responds by talking about the "blogspots" and Tim points him to his own blog over at Project Runway. Go to the source, Vincent!

No, I didn't call you an amateur. Oh wait yes I did.

Heidi also talks about how Vincent calls the other designers were amateurs. Michael is like, hey if I am, so are you - we are all on the same show. Laura just says Vincent is delusional. That sums it up. Uli calls him out saying, if you are the only "real" designer why are you here? Robert says it is amateur to call others amateur. Finally nobody knows what Vincent is talking about.

Then we get the Kayne word count. We get a cute montage of how fast Kayne can talk. He gets about 1000 words into a 30 second conversation with Miss USA. Love you mean it!

thankyouforwatchingprojectrunwayloveyoumeanit!

He tells himself to SHUTUP!

Now we get a Malan montage. We get a bunch of creepy laugh clips. LOVE IT!

HEHEHEHEHAHAHAHEHEHEHEHAHA

The fans want to know where Malan's accent comes from. Robert says it is a mix of Cary Grant meets Eddie Munster. Tim names Malan's accent "malanese". Malan talks about his family being unsupportive because they are worried about the reaction to him being gay. Overall he is just happy to be there. Don't be fooled by creepy laugh.

Heidi then asks what the best challenge was. Alison loved the doggie episode. What was the hardest challenge? The mommy one mainly because of the plus size issues. Good segway into the Angela v Jeffrey issue.

Um really, not so interested in Angela v Jeffrey anymore. Nobody feels different about it. I have sooo moved on from this issue already. Everyone acknowledges the sexual tension. FINALLY SOMETHING INTERESTING!

And now we are introduced to Mr. Fluff and Fold.

F@#@ckBullSh*&%$#%T DRYCLEANING!

So the designers get their clothes cleaned courtesy of Project Runway. Vincent didn't like that. He told off the producers because they ruined a shirt that should not have been cleaned. I mean come on - he left a note!!!! Get me a ticket, I am out of here!

This was actually a highlight of the reunion - something to actually laugh at! Vincent totally loses it and Kayne and Michael say it --- "HE CRAZY" -- Everyone is cracking up. Check it out over at Project Rungay.

We then find out that the fan favorite is Michael Knight. He wins $10,000 bucks!! Looks like the same people who vote in the bravo poll were the majority in the BPR poll.

YAY MICHAEL!

We get 2 special guests to bring out the BIG CHECK. I LOVE BIG CHECKS!

NINA GARCIA and Michael Kors come out and answer any questions the designers may have for them. They give the designers a chance to question the judge's decisions.

Give us your best shot.

Heidi explains how they give the designers between 1 to 5 points on each design. They then tally up the votes and then discuss. They take into account the score and the explanation and the overall design to come up with the winner and loser. Michael Kors insists he doesn't go back to past episodes to judge current ones. But then he says he also thinks about the designer's potential - so past episodes kinda get factored in.

Angela asks them if the dog challenge outfit would have been judged differently if she would have given a different description and story for who the girl she was designing for. Nina and Michael agree - the outfit was just bad. Nothing would have saved it. She was a hoochie mama. Get over it.

Kayne talks about his couture dress. He says he wanted a solid color dress but couldn't find the fabric at the time. If it were red or another solid color - was it just the fabric? Michael agrees it would have been a different dress. Some other people may have loved it but they didn't want Kayne to be way over the top.

Alison then talks about her recycle outfit. She moved on from it. So did we.

We then see strange alarms and backstage problems. Not so interesting. Everyone looks confused when the problems occur backstage. Kinda like drugged up parrots.

We then see some fainting on the runway by the models - especially Amanda. Her eyes started rolling back on a few runways. Marilinda seems to get it also. Someone feed the models!

And then we get the "gas leak" - which is just Jeffrey farting while walking onto the runway after eating leftover BBQ pork ribs for breakfast. Very funny stuff.

Predictions - Robert says Laura is the dark horse. Katy says Michael is the strongest. Alison says Jeffery and Michael. Kayne says Laura and Michael. Keith says Jeffrey. Angela and Vincent don't want to pick any of them - probably because they feel they should win.

We then get some past Project Runway contestant's thoughts. Jay says Michael because we already have the gay white guy and the immigrant. Chloe wants Michael to win - because he shows diversity. Kara says Uli and so does Dan. Daniel says Laura because she would be a great CEO. Robert Plotkin (from season 1) says in Season 1 he should have won. Season 2, Daniel Franco. And Season 3? Daniel Franco, of course!

And that is recapping a recap. Hope we get more excitement next week.

what happened to the pre-reunion drinking fest like what they did last season? That was so much fun to watch and i think made the designers drunk and funny during the episode

The reunion episode was terrible. If the Yankees game hadn't been rained out there's no way I would have watched the whole thing.

It wasn't "Securitaus" that Tim was saying...it was circuitous (as in a circuitous (winding, indirect, meandering) route). ;-)
