Current TV - My New Addiction

Over the weekend I came across Current TV - a channel which is like your favorite blog with news, style, music, information and so much random stuff all on TV. Check out the wiki page for a lot more info.

Each segment is presented in "pod" format - which is about a 10 minute video (some more, some less) either with interviews or just footage from an event. The topics ranged from AIDS in Africa to style with Rachel Zoe to tripping out cars to the all white girl rappers Northern State to Mexican Immigration to protesting Iraq to wine making...the list goes on and on. You can even see older pods on the website - we saw one from the Flaming Lips at Lollapalooza done from the perspective of a dancing santa on stage.

And many of the pods are viewer created. You submit your pod on the internet and people will vote and if you win you get paid money! Also, the commercials are viewer created. The sponsors (like Toyota, T Mobile and Popsecret) ask the viewers to create the commercials - if you win then you get paid!! And if your commercial is really kick ass then you can get picked up nationally and get paid even more!

The best part - you can't get bored. It is perfect for the super ADD just want to see little interesting shorts. Just watch a half hour and tell me you aren't hooked.

Current is great. Within an hour span, you can literally travel the world and get snippets on fashion, film, international politics, history. even occasional lists and quotes. it truly feels like surfing the internet, with its barrage of color and life and information. i'm totally hooked!
