BLOC PARTY Concert - The Good, The Bad (and the Ugly Pictures)

Last night Danya, Elad and I went to Revolution (in Ft. Lauderdale) to see Bloc Party. This is truly one of our favorite bands and on the top of our list for best albums of 2005.

However, because Bloc Party is so great (and played on the OC) every hipster and wannabe was on the scene. Needless to say, this much anticipated show was filled with the good, the bad and the ugly...

The Good:
FREAKING BLOC PARTY WAS IN SOUTH FLORIDA!!!!!!

They totally rocked. We had a good spot to watch in amazement. We were able to sing along (and in some cases scream along) to the words, dance to the music and have a awesome time.

The Bad:

We had to see them in South Florida. South Florida crowds BLOW. They talk the entire time. They barely pay attention to the music on the stage. They also are inconsiderate of other people trying to enjoy the music.

It was too hot for Bloc Party. They played but you can tell they weren't liking the heat. And that gets me to the next point...

It was outdoors. The sound quality sucks outdoors. They don't have enough speakers to make the sound travel.

The Ugly (pictures):

Rock!!

Sure, the crowd sucked and Yeah, it wasn't loud enough. Even so, it will live on as a highlight of 2006.

I'm with Elad. I have been listening to Bloc Party non-stop all day and marveling at how kick ass they were. The guys are young, but they are beyond talented. And they looked like they were having a great time, which is unusual for bands playing in our not-so-fair state. For example, Jeff Tweedy of Wilco HATES FL; Clap Your Hands Say Yeah seemed bewildered to be here; even Madonna yelled at us two summers ago in Fort Lauderdale because the crowd sucked. It's really hard to make up for the all the sucking and be the only cool concertgoers south of the Mason-Dixon! YEAH!
