Seriously, this guy is a trip. I check out his blog on a normal basis and he is crude, nasty, opinionated and hilarious - everything I love in a blogger. He can be writing about something that really drives you nuts or that you totally can't believe but you are compelled to read every last word of it.

On top of that - he is dead on right about Miami. Check him out - he has just moved away from blogspot and is blogging with his own domain name. You can probably check out his old posts on his prior page.

this guy puts us all to shame

i can barely keep with with blogging or flogging at my age, but this man inspires me. he is a 93 year old blogger! my parents can barely use gmail and yet this man is computer-savvy enough to maintain a blog. he writes about some fascinating stuff...like how we're probably never "ready" to die, no matter how old we are.

Noah Kalina was able to have his photo taken with several celebrities at the Big in '06 VH1 Awards Show. Background on the project: "The only celebs that were actually familiar with the phenomenon that is Noah K were Weird Al Yankovic and Paris Hilton. How perfect is that?"

Over here at Getting to Maybe we have many contributors...some silent...some active - but all have something great to say.

I suggest this week that we all take a moment and blog about Thanksgiving. Whatever you want to say - share it here. A recipe, a story, what you are thankful for?

Where Do Dead Blogs Go?

So many bloggers come online and hope for some type of fame. How many hits can I get a day? Can I get some google ads and make money? And yes, I fall into that category. Haven't made a penny yet - although thankfully my readership has been up (love you guys!) . So is that why so many blogs go silent so quickly? Did they sign on with hopes of fame and realize it is hard to get more than 15 readers a week? Frankly, I am surprised we made it this many months.

So, I have a question for the internet world: Where do dead blogs go? Why are they allowed to waste space on the internet?

I did a little google search and found a website article from 2003 that said this:

“The most dramatic finding was that 66.0% of surveyed blogs had not been updated in two months, representing 2.72 million blogs that have been either permanently or temporarily abandoned.

Apparently the blog-hosting services have made it so easy to create a blog that many tire-kickers feel no commitment to continuing the blog they initiate. In fact, 1.09 million blogs were one-day wonders, with no postings on subsequent days. The average duration of the remaining 1.63 million abandoned blogs was 126 days (almost four months).

A surprising 132,000 blogs were abandoned after being maintained a year or more (the oldest abandoned blog surveyed had been maintained for 923 days).”

Over a million blogs are only alive for one day (and that was 2003, imagine what it is now). Why? Should there be an expiration date? Should blog hosting websites say update or you are shut down?
