Newsflash: Hurricanes Are A Force of God (or, Idiots Continue To Speak In Public Places)

It was only a matter of time. The religious are heralding the upcoming apocalypse on the backs of hot air and rain. I'm sure the Christian right is ablaze with talk of sin and sex (their favorite topics) but it's almost comforting to know that pyscho religious thoughts are not only from coming from Christians. According to this article in Village Voice, some Rabbi's are irate about Israel's recent Disengagement action in Gaza and blame the US for its supportive role in the internal military action.

"Katrina is a consequence of the destruction of [Gaza's] Gush Katif [slate of Jewish communities] with America's urging and encouragement," Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Lewin, executive director of the Rabbinic Congress for Peace, told WND. "The U.S. should have discouraged Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon from implementing the Gaza evacuation rather than pushing for it and pressuring Israel into concessions."

This is the most blatantly idiotic opinion I've ever heard. Coming from a Rabbi it's even worse. Rabbi's are supposedly well-educated leaders of the people. And here I thought fear and wrath of God were strictly Christian and Muslim practices.
