Santino's Inspiration - A Knock Off?
Last week's Project Runway wasn't filled with that much drama to report (besides Zulema making the models do a "walk off" which has never happened before on the show).
But after reading fourfour's review of last week's show I have found out some juicy bits that must be shared! (by the way, fourfour pokes fun at Project Runway/Being Bobby Brown/America's Next Top Model and other reality shows every week and makes even a boring episode hilarious)
So this week's episode had the designers go out around NYC and take pictures of what "inspires" them and then create designs based on that inspiration. Daniel V. (my new favorite) took a picture of an orchid and came up with the winning design:
Not bad Danny V. Much love for your design, but fourfour was right when they said it looks more like a garlic bulb.
But who cares about the designs right now - here is the gossip.
Santino took more pictures than any of the designers and still had a crappy design (inspired by graffiti - snooze alert!)If you thought this looked like Austin's Grammy dress from last season you are totally correct - it is the same exact fabric.
Here is one of the pictures he didn't use:
So automatically you think -- ooh scandalous! Who is this woman flipping off Santino? During the episode you have Santino showing the picture to Andre and he is all like "GASP! How did you get that?"
I do not recall Santino saying that he got a woman to pose for him. But I did think it was strange that they all had point and shoot digital cameras and Santino managed to get a fisheye lens black and white photo out of it. But whatever, he might just have those kind of skills, right?
WRONG! According to a comment by one of fourfour's readers, from TMC Daily, this picture is actually a very well known photo that is sold on the streets of NYC, right next to shots of the Empire State Building, Times Square, Central Park...and all those other great landmark shots that tourists just eat up.
Santino might have told Andre that it was a picture of a picture and the editors just cut that part out to make Santino look all artistic or whatever. But what kind of inspiration is that? Is he inspired by copyright infringement?
Maybe that is why he didn't use the photo - and maybe he was just impressed with the photo and wanted to take a picture of it for himself. Well, then shame on Project Runway's editors for flashing this picture as if it was Santino's picture. We all should have known Santino is not clever enough to get a photo like this.
By the way - I predict Kara is next to go - then Santino - and then maybe Andre. I think the final 3 will be Chloe, Daniel V. and Nick. (I still got love for you Chloe even though Daniel V. is my new favorite) Right now Chloe and Daniel V. are doing the best each week - but it is a toss up between Nick and Andre for the last spot. They both have potential but they gotta start stepping it up to make it into the final 3.
