Congratulations, Happy Roy

Yesterday was a big day for our contributor, Happy Roy. She married her love, George. Let me just tell you this wedding was AMAZING. There was so many people, so much food, so much dancing, so much love, so much beauty - I was honored to be part of it all. Thank you, Happy Roy and George, for allowing me and Elad to be part of your special day.

And as a special treat we finally got to meet Kavoor36 (our #1 reader) and I can't wait for her to send me some of her pictures from the event. It was so great to meet you, Nina!

23 Small Disasters

Shameless Self-Promotion Warning!

A fiction hypertext project called 23 Small Disasters that I was involved in launched last week as the March issue of the great science fiction/fantasy online magazine, Ideomancer.

The idea of the project was simple: Seven writers write short interconnected pieces based on random words and see if it all comes together as something tangible. When we started, we didn’t have a theme or a cohesive idea, but after everyone wrote up their pieces, a sort of loose collective idea of endings and disasters emerged.

The other writers attached to the project are Benjamin Rosenbaum, Christopher Barzak, Mehgan McCarron, Greg van Eekhout, Kiini Ibura Salaam, and Tim Pratt.

Attn: Contributors

Blogger has required that I upgrade Getting To Maybe and use the newest version of the Blogger program.

What does that mean? I am not really sure if the blog will look any different (except now we can use "labels" - YAY!). But all of the contributors must now create a Google Account in order to create new posts. Please don't think that I kicked you off the contributor's list - this was all done by the hand of Blogger. You are all still very welcome to continue to post, but all you have to do is create a new login with a Google account in order to do so.

Sorry for the inconvenience and please email me if you come across any problems. Thanks!

P.S. - I am already liking the new version of Blogger - easier spell check (doesn't think the word "blog" is spelled wrong anymore) and easier publishing. That said I have only used the new blogger for about 10 minutes. I still haven't been able to get the picture uploading to work, but that might just be a "pop-up" issue. And this is strange but you can actually choose the date and time that your post is published (or says it was published). And yes, that includes back-dating. Interesting.

And Another One....

Getting To Maybe is one lucky blog....

Last week we had 2 new members join - MM and Sassy.

This week we have another new member! His name is Steven and also goes by the name Iga. He is born and raised in Georgia, is an identical twin and although you would never guess it - he is a 1/4 Japanese!

He claims to be the king of useless information (we may have to challenge him on that one) - and loves celebrity gossip, movies, music, fashion - and Pageants!

Steven has previously blogged through Myspace - but this is his first time on blogger. So let's all Welcome Steven to the blog!

Let Me Introduce You To Another New Member - Sassy!

This is a special week because we have added not only MM to the Getting to Maybe mix, but we now also have a new member named Sassy.

Sassy is a big city girl - currently living in Los Angeles, CA, but previously has found herself in NYC and Boston. She is a self proclaimed TV Junkie (aren't we all?). She has great taste in music and movies - and I am sure she will be a great addition to the blog.

This is the first time Sassy is going to blog - so please everyone, be gentle!

Welcome Sassy to the Blog!

Calling All Bloggers

A little over a year ago I had this little dream/hope that I could start a blog where I can bring in a bunch of contributors with very different voices and backgrounds. At first I had a great response and got so many people showing interest. And many of you are still here with us (and I thank you)...but I think it may be time to open up the blog to some new blood.

So if you are reading this post and are interested in becoming a contributor to this blog - just let me know! Don't be shy. I don't care if you have never blogged before in your life.

And this isn't limited to people I personally know. This is open to any person interested in blogging. So either leave a comment or email me: slibman80@yahoo.com - we can chat a bit about your interests and get you started!

Site Note

Shawn and I are going to be exceedingly, unusually, busy this holiday weekend so we won't be able to post much here. But, we'll be back with brilliant new topics after July 4th.

And I just wanted to say a big THANKS to everyone who's visited this blog and made our first week a major success. Especially the contributors: Julie, Tim, and Melody. And the commenters: ZW (acronym clarification: Zen Weasel) and Vincent and
Noella and Susheel.

If you're reading and not commenting, you're not playing along! So, get with it.

Hopefully, we'll continue to be enteraining (and informative! and revolutionary!) for a long time. See you in a couple days.

Ring Ring

Now that this is officially going to become a group blog - we should set up some type of format. How do we want to approach this? Should it just be randomness? The reason I wanted to have a blog is to spur conversation with a wide variety of people, friends in places I don't see too much, and, of course, to liven up a boring day at work.

I suggest one rule - keep it short. If I have to scroll down in the window to keep on reading then it is too long.

So, in an effort to start conversation, I'm going to throw out a topic. Thoughts and stories, etc, in the comments section to follow:

Topic #1: CELL-PHONES.

We've had these things forawhile now. How do you like them? How have they changed your life, for the better, the worse? Lost one down a drain, have one stolen, found someone elses?

The Group Blog

I am enlisting the help of many of my interesting friends and family, who all have very distinct points of view, to create a group blog.

I am hoping that through our joint effort, we can keep the reader interested with a variety of topics from different races, genders and whatever else you can classify, from all over the country. Hopefully we will create some thought provoking moments. Wish us luck!

Swearing In

So, yeah, I'm here too.

I've got a lot of to say and I think I'm running out of people willing to listen, hence, this blog. I see and hear and read a lot of shit that gets me angry. Here, I will vent. If I find something I like, I will link to it.

And, there it is.

Here's our first link:

The Onion in 2056. These geniuses have done it again. They've gone all science fiction!

Inaugural Post

After many weeks of envying everyone for having a blog - I decided it was time for a space to make my own comments.

So then I enlisted the help of Elad and as a team we will blog away.

Expect a variety of subjects: Music, Movies, TV shows, Family, Politics, Stupid People and Why They Are Stupid. All set in this wacky world called Florida. Be warned - we talk shit.

Background:
Shawn is the lawyer.
Elad is the writer.
We both have no clue what we are doing.
