Are Reese and Ryan Done?
Say it ain't so!!!! The tabloids are saying that Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe are calling it quits on their 7 year marriage. I hope this one is a lie because they seem like such a cute couple and they have two really beautiful children together.

Lost Recap - Season 3 - Episode 4 - Every Man For Himself
I don't know what was more exciting this week - the episode or the previews for next week!
As for the episode - everyone is still in the same place as last week but we are now seeing the captured survivors (Jack, Sawyer and Kate) start breaking down to the pressure the Others are putting on them.
Sawyer is taken in by the Others and a scene from Pulp Fiction is suddenly redone on the Island. No, not the scene where they do the funky dance at the diner. I am talking about the Coke Overdose scene when they have to puncture the breast plate with a needle. Sawyer is knocked out and wakes up later to be told they put a pacemaker in him. Ben says that if Sawyer's heartrate goes too high that his heart will explode and Sawyer will die. Ben also insists that Sawyer not tell Kate or else Kate will get the same pacemaker. (we later find out Ben lied...or did he??)
Who knew Sawyer was so gullible to actually believe they put a pacemaker in him? Sawyer seems like the one to always doubt and he just bought right into it. Well it seems to drive Sawyer insane not to be able to tell Kate and Kate starts to get the feeling that something is up. She shows Sawyer that she could escape from her cage (which she does) and then ends up going back into her cage after Sawyer says he won't escape with her. She says "Live together, die alone" (I think Jack said this way early on in another season).
In a flashback we saw Sawyer in jail and tricking a fellow jailmate to help out the warden, which got Sawyer out of jail 6 years early. Sawyer also gets a sweet payoff which he puts into a secret bank account for his daughter that he just found out about. What was the connection there? Is it that Sawyer is only looking out for himself? But we know he isn't because of how he is protecting Kate (and how he helped out his daughter). I guess it is that he looks out for those he somehow cares about (no matter how much he wants to deny it).
Back at the beach, Desmond is either hitting on Claire or had another clairvoyant moment. We aren't really sure which one it is because he asked Claire if he could fix the roof of her tent (which Charlie rejected) and later on made a lightning pole which may have kept Claire and her baby from being hit by lightning. But again, that isn't entirely clear whether Desmond wanted to keep Claire away from lightning or dry from the rain. That didn't really make sense to me.
Back at the Hydra, Jack is asked to help with an emergency surgery of Colleen (who was shot by Sun in the Glass Ballerina episode). Ben runs into Jack's cell and tells Juliet "the sub is back." (do the other's have a submarine? sweeeeeet!) Colleen is at a point where she cannot be saved and she dies. This causes Pickett (Colleen's husband) to get very angry and beat up Sawyer because "they" (meaning the survivors) did this to his wife. Pickett makes Kate admit that she loves Sawyer so Pickett will stop hitting him, which Kate takes back when Sawyer says something about it later. (Thanks Sassy for reminding me). Meanwhile, Jack notices x-rays of a spinal cord with a tumor on it. Since the others know everything about the survivors, Jack assumes they know he is a spinal surgeon. Jack wants to know whose x-ray it is and if he is being kept prisoner so he can perform surgery on that person. Is it Ben?
After all the drama with Sawyer, Ben takes Sawyer out on a hike where he wants to show him something. That is where Ben reveals that the pacemaker was not real. Ben tells Sawyer that the only way to gain a conman's respect is to con him. He says Sawyer is a good conman but the other's are better. At the end of their hike Ben tells Sawyer that he is on an island about twice the size of Alcatraz and they are looking across the water at the Island where they everyone else is (the Island where they crashed). Elad has now coined the name of the new island "Isla Sorna" (from Jurassic Park). Ben tells Sawyer that there is no point to escaping because there is nowhere to go. He would have to swim across a body of water just to get back to the Island. Is Ben lying again to Sawyer just to keep him complacent?
And next week looks like we are taken back to the Pearl and there is someone with an eyepatch watching them. Thanks to Lonny's TIVO we were able to figure out that the weird person on the Pearl's tv was not an alien. Could you imagine if this whole thing suddenly turned into a show about aliens? Anyway, next week looks like an action packed episode with many of the survivors from the beach back in focus. Where is Sayid, Sun and Jin? Is Locke going to save the prisoners? Who are these new random characters on the beach? Hopefully these questions will be answered soon.

20 million dollar wedding cake
As many of you know, I'm in the midst of wedding planning. I've taken a break from looking at bridal gowns and photographer's websites to think about the type of wedding cake I'll have. After much searching, I've found a wedding cake, which features 20 million dollars worth of diamonds For now, it's considered the world's most expensive wedding cake.
How does the cake taste? That will be left up to your imagination. The cake is protected by a team of uniformed guards so there's no way it will ever be eaten.
Call me crazy, but who cares if it has diamonds on it if you can't eat it? I know where my priorities are. ;)
Friday Night Lights
Seeing as how we discuss television shows we like, I thought I'd add my two cents to the mix by asking about it. Who's seen it? What do you think about it? Like it or not? Is it better than the book/movie? Who's your favorite/least favorite character? So far, I adore Coach Taylor
and Matt Saracen.
If there's a little interest in the show, I might find it within myself to provide recaps. If you haven't seen it yet, you must tune in.
Project Runway - Some Thoughts
You know how throughout the season the Judges would complain when a designer would go over the top or too far. (For example - see Kayne.) Why did this bother the Judges? Because, as a matter of taste, the outfit is supposed to make you think about style in a forward thinking way and not in an "oh my god what were they thinking" way.
Now the producers of the show should start listening to the Judges. Project Runway went too far this season. They edited too much in some areas and threw so many things in that were beyond a good level of taste. For example, last season we saw the designers interacting with each other and having fun in the workroom. We BARELY saw that this season (besides a little glimpse of exchanges between Kayne and Robert). And then the producers threw in things like bringing back Angela and Vincent just to mix it up a bit. That probably pissed off more people and made a lot of long time fans really see the show differently (in a bad way).
And of course the producers would respond and say - We had the highest ratings this season than any other season. That may be true but you probably turned off so many fans by fabricating drama in an obvious way.
So my advice to Project Runway - bring the focus back to the designing. Stop trying to create drama. We all loved the designers last season not because they were fighting with each other, but because they were each unique, artistic and fun people. OK so Santino caused a bit of drama, but in the end we remember his "timpressions" fondly. I think if Project Runway stepped back and allowed the designers to shine, without stirring the pot on their own, they would have had a better season.

Heroes
Who is watching it? What are your thoughts?
Which superpower do you wish you had?
Elad and I have been watching it and so far I am enjoying it. I think that the weird guy who is kinda kidnapping each of them is trying to bring them all together to save the world. What do you think?
Oh, but that catchphrase they are trying to put out there (save the cheerleader, save the world) is LAME.

this rings all too close to home for me
before you think i'm contemplating suicide, fear not, i'm not. but i must admit that the realization of just how much debt i'm in and how much i have to pay for the next 30 years is killing me.
i tore the medial meniscus in my left knee 10 days ago. it was a classic case of negligence on the part of the lounge-owner -- i slipped and fell because the premises had failed to mop up some spilled liquid on the floor. anyway, despite having gone to law school and being an *almost* lawyer (hopefully i'll be a full-fledged attorney in 12 days!), i had no interest in suing. however, my litigator brother pointed out that if surgical intervention could get me at least $100,000 in compensatory and punitive damages. is it shameful that i thought twice about suing? i have to admit that the $67k i'd get after the contingency fee would go a long way towards paying my loans off before i die. :(

i thought of shawn immediately when i read this on dlisted. the fraggle rock movie is in the works! who's excited about this? anyone? bueller? [thanks coming soon!]
The Office - Season 3 - Episode 5 - The Initiation
This week we got 3 different storylines....
First - The Initiation
Ryan "the temp" wants to learn how to be a salesman and Dwight has agreed to teach him the way. But of course Dwight wants to first initiate Ryan - he takes him out to the Beet Farm and makes him plant a beet seed. Suddenly he abandons Ryan in the middle of the farm. Ryan gets pissed and walks over to a shed where he finds Dwight hiding. There are more challenges there for Ryan - including questions about Lost and Robert Mifflin. Dwight starts talking about "fear" because Michael isn't afraid of anything (besides snakes) and Ryan is challenged to fight Dwight's cousin. Ryan had enough of the games and walks out. Dwight admits he just wants to be friends with Ryan and finally divulges the secrets of sales - which they try out and fail. They end the day by throwing eggs at the building that rejected Ryan's sales pitch and by taking down an Irish Car Bomb (or was it a Sake Bomb?).
Second - The Pretzel Line
Jan, annoyed with Michael, asks Pam to start keeping a list of everything Michael does all day. Too bad for Michael, it is Pretzel day - where you can get a free pretzel with all the toppings. Pam's list goes something like this: "Michael does Bill Cosby impression" and "Michael stands in line for pretzel." Michael's pretzel had the works which causes him to get very hyper and start spitting out orders all over the office. And quickly thereafter he crashes and falls asleep on his desk until it is time to go home.
Third - The Squeaky Chair
More flirting between Jim and his new coworker Karen. She has a squeaky chair because Jim switched his with hers. There is this back and forth flirtation all day.
Jim ends up calling Scranton office and gets Pam on the phone (which isn't normal because it was so late - but she stayed late because she had to watch what Michael was doing). They talk for awhile about movies and other cute Jim and Pam stuff. And the phone call gets confused by Pam saying "bye" to Ryan when he left the office. Jim thinks she ended the conversation and that was the end of their reunion. Let's hope there is more of that soon!!!
And Dwight's blog is active again...this week it is full of beets!

Project Runway - Season 3 - Episode 14 - Finale Part 2
The fabulous final four are showing at fashion week - but not before one last dramatic twist concludes.
Jeffrey starts calling Tim wanting to know what he needs to do to stay in. Tim tells him one receipt is missing and one of the shorts that was pleated may not make it in because there isn't a receipt for the pleating work. Jeffrey immediately gets to work making a skirt to replace the shorts just in case that piece cannot come in.
So did Jeffrey cheat? According to the receipts he did not. But he was missing a receipt for the shorts being pleated and he did go over budget by about $200. The solution? The shorts are out and get rid of some items so he isn't over budget anymore. So what did he get rid of? The wigs:
Bye Bye Blondie

Everyone seems happy with the outcome - even Laura. She has to admit this is an even playing field - well, if you call a workroom the size of a department store an even playing field. But hey that is all besides the point now...
The one thing I loved about this episode is how they got to the action quickly. They didn't drag out the Jeffrey drama past the first commercial. The designers were quickly taken to Bryant Park, getting the models ready for the runway, and even doing a little pre-runway interviews. Quickly the "Wowness turned to work" and the designers were frantically getting their collections ready for the runway.
So let me just say the first second I saw Jeffrey's line come down the runway I immediately said "Jeffrey won!!" I don't know why I would know it so quickly, but there was so much cohesion and a clear vision - I just knew he was the winner. And I have been rooting for Uli all season!
As the lines were coming down the runway you should have heard me cheering and clapping for each designer. And I am always amazed how much better the outfits look on television - when you can see the fabric move around and actually see layers and details. (I think this applied the most for Jeffrey).
Oh, and the music is great too! Each designer picked music that fit their personality - I think I enjoyed Michael's music the most.
And the Judges tonight were Nina Garcia, Heidi Klum, Michael Kors and Fern Mallis.

And the moment you have all been waiting for....All 4 lines at Olympus Fashion Week
Jeffrey's Family
The judges really loved Jeffrey's line. The only dress that confused them was the blue Uli type dress (see 3rd from last above). They said clearly his strong point is his sporty edge. The judges felt that Jeffrey dressed the same girl for every occasion in her life - parties, movies, even work. He tried hard not to look schizophrenic and he pulled it off. There was plenty of variety but somehow it all fit together. Honestly, I did not like Jeffrey's line before I saw it all come together on the runway. I couldn't see myself in anything he made - but I see how the Judge's would love how he had a clear unique point of view.
Uli's Family
The Judges were also very impressed by Uli. Apparently after the show everyone wanted to know how to get Uli to design for them. She was a winner no matter what. The only downfall to Uli's line is that the Judges didn't feel that there was a story connecting all of the pieces. Would one woman wear all of these outfits? Who is this woman? Either way, everything was beautiful and she deserved all the praise.
Laura's Family
Laura clearly intended to pull off an elegant evening gown collection. The only problem - where is the "wow" factor that makes the Judges see she is more than a designer for her own closet? She said the feathers were supposed to shake things up a bit. I don't really see the difference - but the outfits were still beautiful.
Michael's Family
Michael was the fan favorite. When he came out to introduce his line the tent started cheering. The crowd loves him. Unfortunately, his outfits didn't really live up to the hype. Michael Kors felt Michael turned the volume up too high. It was clear he made an amateur mistake and went beyond a good taste level to try and wow the audience. Sadly, he went too far. Although, the judges did admit there was an outfit for every type of day - bathingsuits, evening gown, casual daytime - he got it covered. Too bad he didn't edit himself a little more. I am sure he has plenty of people looking for him to give him a job. Let's hope he is ready for it.
So who is the winner? If you didn't already know....
The final two came down to Uli and Jeffrey...and the winner was...
JEFFREY!!!
Congratulations Jeffrey and Marilinda!!
Many times throughout the season the contestant who stresses the most during the episode ends up winning - and this time it was the same. Jeffrey said this entire experience was very intense - so of course he would end up with the title of winner. And I think he deserved it. The line just made sense and he has his own point of view. There is no question he can create thought provoking outfits - I just wonder, who is going to buy it? Well, that really doesn't matter considering most high fashion designers aren't everyday clothing designers.
So Project Runway, I am going to miss you. My week really is going to be lacking something now. I guess I will just have to keep on checking in with Blogging Project Runway for my fix until the next season starts.
p. s. - over at Amber's blog (my aim is true) she has some great pictures from the runway in high resolution. And of course her recap is great too! Check it out.
