Idiot of the Week

Ever heard of Dine and Dash? You go into a restaurant, order food, run out before the bill.

Learn from our idiot of the week: The Gin and Tonic Bandit. Don't do that. Every week. For 5 weeks. At the same restaurant. On Wednesdays. And order the same thing each time. You will eventually get caught.

Aubrey Pregnant? With Diddy's Baby!?!?!?!

According to A Socialite's Life, Aubrey O'Day (From Making the Band 3 - Danity Kane) is Pregnant. And if this picture below is for real, she is not looking her normal hot self.

Well, the story doesn't end there. Word from around the Bad Boy water cooler is that Diddy could be the Daddy. According to the tipster:

"Everyone knows she had something going on with [Diddy]. It makes a lot of sense that he would be the father." But the tipster adds, "I really hope Diddy didn't [get her pregnant], because this could turn into a real mess ... imagine if she sued for [sexual] harassment."

I knew there was a reason I loved that show!

I doubt it is Diddy's baby (if she is really pregnant). She has a boyfriend - DJ Cassidy - and Diddy has been a bit preoccupied over the past few months with a new set of twins from another baby momma.

UPDATE:

Still no confirmation if Aubrey O'Day is Pregnant, but I did find other pictures of her from the same night. She doesn't look as bad as she does in the original picture (top of this post).

Link to all the pictures from that night - Aubrey O'Day at B2B After-Party at Marquee

Here she is with her boyfriend, DJ Cassidy:

MORE UPDATES:

Apparently Aubrey wants the world to know its a fake story and went to a store to play an April Fool's Joke on all of us. Check her out with all those pregnancy tests:

Convinced?

Check out the video of her shopping at Media Out Take.com - who didn't get the joke.

(2nd Update from Sandra Rose News)

Last Update (maybe?): The Final Word

Aubrey has released this statement to the press where she knocks down any rumors of her being pregnant:

Aubrey of DANITY KANE released the following statement today regarding rumors of her being pregnant.

" I am not pregnant. Recent rumors linking me to Sean Combs, CEO of my label Bad Boy Entertainment are completely untrue and ridiculous." (SOURCE)

So there you have it - she isn't pregnant. Maybe she just needs a better stylist.

Lost - Season 3, Episode 14 - Exposé

The Lost writers definitely gave us all a treat last night. The episode was chock full of meta-humor and Island flashbacks and old favorite characters. The actual storyline of the episode felt a little stretched, but it provided a solid hour of entertainment with enough interesting topics to keep us fans talking till next Wednesday.

The episode opens on the Island (yay!). Nikki is running breathlessly through the jungle. She falls in a clearing, digs at the ground, and buries something.

The next scene is in a stripclub (obviously, not on the Island). Nikki is on stage dancing. She notices a mysterious man with slicked hair come into the club and go straight to the back. She quickly follows him and enters a manager's office. There, the man with the slicked hair is showing a large case of money to the back of the manager. Nikki says, "That's Cobra's money!" The manager swings around and it's Billy Dee Williams and he reveals that HE is Cobra (or some such nonsense). He pulls out a gun and dramatically shoots Nikki.

From somewhere offscreen, a director yells "Cut!" and Nikki stands up. She shakes the hand of Billy Dee Williams, says, "It was nice to work with you," and proceeds through a backlot, talking to the producer of the series, Howard Zuckerman. They step outside, behind them a big sign reads "Expose - Season Four," in front of the famous Sydney skyline. Victor is wondering if Nikki will leave Sydney now that her role on the show is over. Nikki assures him she's not there just for the series and gives him a big kiss.

On the Island, Hurley and Sawyer are playing ping pong. Hurley wins a game. Sawyer, upset, demands another game. But before they can continue, Nikki jumps out of the jungle, whispers something, and collapses. They go over to check on her. Sawyer checks the jungle for anybody watching. Hurley looks up, worry painted on his face and says, "Dude, Nikki's dead." Sawyer, kicking a dead horse joke, says, "Who's Nikki?"

The next scene brings all the major players still on the beach side of the Island, Charlie, Sun, Jin, Hurley, and Sawyer crowded around Nikki's inert body. They can't find any wound and are perplexed by the whole thing. Sun thinks maybe they were poisoned and goes to check the food supply. Hurley and Sawyer are trying to figure out what Nikki said before she - apparently - died. Hurley thinks she said, "Powerlines!" but that makes no sense and then Sawyer suggests maybe she said, "Paulo lies!" They decide to go find Paulo.

A flashback opens on Howard's white-lined expansive mansion overlooking water. Him and Nikki are having breakfast. Nikki is complimenting Howard on the food. He says his new chef, Paulo, is great. He begged him for the job and Howard finally gave it to him. He calls Paulo out and him and Nikki exchange a careful greeting. Suddenly, Howard starts to feel pains in his arms. Within a moment, he seems to be choking. Nikki calls out for Paulo, who rushes to the table, but it's too late. Howard is dead.

Nikki shouts, "You could have worked it so we didn't have to eat the same food!" Without a moment of remorse, she pushes Howard's head back and grabs at a key tied to his neck. Together, Paulo and Nikki walk into a closet and find a locked chest. They open it to reveal a few items, notably a Martyoshka doll, which they open, but we don't see what's inside.... yet.

Another flashback finds Nikki and Paulo in the airport waiting for their flight. They're looking through a newspaper that lists the cause of death of Howard Zuckerman as "heart failure." They smile at each other, knowing their crime has gone unnoticed. Nearby, we can see the doll poking its head out of their bag. A familiar shouting emerges from nearby. It's Shannon and Boone, arguing about finding a seat in the crowded waiting area. Shannon is in a particularly bad mood and berates Boone for not finding them a seat and then when he tries to grab a chair from Paulo, she scolds him for "flirting" with Paulo. Finally, they walk away and Nikki makes Paulo promise they'll never "be like that."

Back on the Island, Hurley, Jin, and Sawyer find Paulo's body in the jungle. His eyes are glazed open just like Nikki's. One of his shoes is off in a tree. Hurley comments on why his pants are undone. Jin examines his body and notices the way he is flat on the ground looking straight up. He looks at Sawyer and says, "Monster."

The next flashback is a doozy. We're back on Day 1 on the Island. Shannon is screaming her lungs out for Boone. Pieces of Oceanic 815 are scattered all across the Island. Jack is off helping Claire. Locke tells someone to "Get away from there!" A huge explosion rocks the beach. We focus on Nikki. She's running through all the craziness to try and find Paulo. Boone stops her, asking for a pen. Finally, she finds him, bleeding and looking shell-shocked. She asks him, "Where's the bag?"

On the Island, Hurley, Jin, and Sawyer carry Paulo's body beside Nikki's. As always, they're nonchalant about another character's random death. Sawyer is making fun of their names, calling them "Nina and Pablo" and Hurley reprimands him, saying, "Dude. Show some respect." Jin is still talking about Mr. Eko and the Monster and how Locke said, "They're next" and Nikki and Paulo were with them at the time.

In Island-flashback world (this is when it starts to get fun), Nikki says, "There's no such thing as Monsters," after the incident with the falling trees. She's convinced "the coast guard" will be there to rescue them in any minute. Meanwhile, a scuffle is happening up the beach. Jack intervenes and delivers his famous "Live Together, Die Alone" speech. Nikki and Paulo both look moved.

Later, Nikki goes to see Dr. Arzt asking about "trajectories and stuff." Arzt shows her his collection of spiders and new species. He says he's going to be the next Darwin (little does he know he barely survives the season.) He tells her of one particular spider, a Medusa spider that can paralyze people and her scent is so strong, it calls others of the species.

Obviously, Arzt helps her (although it happens offscreen) because the next scene finds Nikki and Paulo finding Yemi's plane and The Pearl station. They don't actually go inside. They're on a mission for their bag so they leave the obvious mystery behind and continue onwards.

In real-time, Hurley, Charlie, and Sawyer are going through Nikki and Paulo's tent. They find jars of bugs inherited from Arzt and a script for Expose. Hurley is thrilled. He loved the show. "It was like Baywatch!" He flips to the end and is surprised by the climax. Sawyer, rifling through Paulo's luggage, comes upon a walkie-talkie like the one the Others used. They wonder if Nikki and Paulo were working with the Others.

In flashback, Arzt and Shannon are confronting Kate about the guns that she and Jack found. Nikki is especially interested. Later, they go to the isolated lagoon where a large section of the plane fell in the water. Paulo finds the bag but he doesn't share this with Nikki. He just says there's nothing but bodies down there and she storms off. He heads back down to retrieve his bag.

We next see Paulo rifling through his bag looking for his nictoine gum. He picks up the doll and begins to dig a hole to bury it. Locke comes upon him and advises him that "things don't stay buried on this Island," especially on the Beach, where high tide will wash anything buried away. He advises him to go inland.

Paulo, alone, heads to The Pearl. He finds a toilet and hides the doll in the back of it. While he's doing that, two familiar visitors enter the station. It's Ben and Juliet. They mess with some buttons and a screen lights up showing Jack in the Swan. Juliet says he would never willingly perform the surgery. But Ben says he'll do what he always does and find something that Jack cares about and exploit that. Juliet counters, "So do we just grab them?" "No," Ben says, "They'll come to us." Using Michael, of course. (Note: I miss Michael.)

After they leave, Paulo heads into the station and finds a walkie-talkie.

Back in real-time, Sun, Charlie, and Hurley have begun to dig a joint grave for Nikki and Paulo. Sun is insistent that their death is the work of the Others. Look what they did to her. They could infiltrate their camp at any time. Hurley gets an idea to ask Desmond and leaves and Charlie, with sad music playing, admits to Sun that he was the one who kidnapped her to divert attention while he and Sawyer stole the camp's guns.

Desmond is no help. He does, however, recommend they talk to Sawyer. Desmond saw him arguing with Nikki just that morning.

In flashback-time, Locke gathers a group to go out to the Pearl to search for a way to find Jack, Kate, and Sawyer. While Nikki is watching the orientation video and Locke and Sayid are working on the computer, Paulo enters the bathroom, takes out the doll and crushes it, revealing a small black poach. He stuffs the poach in his pants and steps back out of the bathroom.

In the present, Hurley confronts Sawyer about the gun. He accuses Sawyer of murdering Nikki, but he can't think of a reason. Sawyer says he was out looking near where they found Paulo and found a mound of dirt. In it, he found the black poach. It's loaded with diamonds.

In flashback, Nikki and Paulo are having a romantic heart-to-heart one morning. Paulo leaves to go get them some breakfast and Nikki notices a strip of nicotine gum in his wake. That's when she goes to Sawyer to ask for a gun. Sawyer refuses and she huffs and puffs away.

The next scene finds Sawyer looking longingly at Nikki's body. Sun walks up to him and reveals that Charlie told her everything. Sawyer asks her if she's going to tell Jin. She says no, otherwise "they'd have to dig another grave." She does, however, slap him.

In the climatic scene of the episode, Nikki is leading Paulo to an isolated spot in the jungle. She demands to see the diamonds. She says she knows he has them. When Paulo refuses, she pulls out a jar with the Medusa spider and throws it at Paulo. It bites him on the neck and he is immediately paralyzed. She searches him and finds the black poach in his pants. She smiles for a moment at her apparent victory, until she hears a sickly crawling sound. It's other Medusa spiders. One of them bites her in the leg.

The next scene is the funeral. Hurley says a few words then Sawyer adds some heartful comments before dropping the diamonds all over the two of them. They begin to throw dirt on them. Just before a mound of dirt hits her face, Nikki's eyes open. But it's too late. Hurley and Sawyer bury them alive.

* * *

Apparently fan reaction to Nikki and Paulo, who have been in probably ten scenes all season, was overtly negative. They didn't bother me, actually, and I was waiting for them to introduce characters that were on the plane but have not been main characters. But, I guess I was in the minority. Fans hated these two so much, the producers decided to kill them real quick. At least we got a fun episode of it!

Going through all the old scenes and locations was a real treat. Seeing Shannon, Boone, and poor Doc Arzt were like icing on the cake. Even seeing Jack and Kate amongst the "regular" cast was a welcome addition. It seems like the main cast has been so spread out this year, this episode had everyone together, even with a wonky timeline that stretched all the way from Day 1 to Day 84 (the Present.)

The diamonds storyline was overall a little weak. After three months on the Island with no sign of contact with the outside world, even thinking about things like diamonds is absurd, but at least we know that if anybody is still clinging to the outside world, they're going to get a big slap in the face and a quick burial.

Do You Want To Save The World?

It seems that saving the world is on everyone's lips lately. San Francisco just passed a law which would ban plastic bags to be used at supermarkets and other stores. A major solar power plant just opened in Portugal. Restaurants are refocusing their menus on local sustainable ingredients. Countless companies are going green. Biodiesel fuel is available for everyday use. And people are switching to energy saver lightbulbs.

Sounds like people are actually starting to realize the need for change.

Lori just posted a great piece on her blog about saving the planet one plate at a time. She talks about a book called Soul-Full Eating, written by Maureen Whitehouse. Maureen says:

“I’d like to offer people hope,” said Whitehouse. “To deliver the news that there are simple things you can do to affect global change for the better. Yes, responding to Al Gore’s call to action can start as simply as choosing different foods to put on your plate. And you can learn to make better choices more easily when you know how to eat in a way that resonates with your Soul.”

So what can you do today to save the world? Well, first you can go out and get Maureen's book and learn about buying organic local foods. Next, buy some reusable cloth bags to take to the grocery store which will cut down on plastic bag use. Try opening the windows instead of pumping the A/C. Shut off the lights when you leave a room. Find out if your local energy company has any reusable energy sources which you can help contribute towards. FPL recently started a new program called Sunshine Energy where you contribute $9.75 a month towards building reusable alternative energy sources in Florida.

So what else can you do right now? Please share some tips and help save the world!

Some Random Thoughts For Today

Elad just started a new job at a place called Genius Jones (a design store with all things for children - toys, books, clothes, furniture, strollers, etc). He is almost insanely excited about this new atmosphere. He loves the people, the work, the toys.

I continue to sit at my boring desk with piles of documents to read and fight over. No toys. No fun. No fair.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice just went to the mid-East to spark peace talks. She was hoping to get a final status on some issues such as Jerusalem, the borders of an eventual Palestinian state and the question of whether Palestinian refugees who fled, or were forced to leave, their homes would have a right to return to Israel. All she got was an agreement that Palestinians and Israeli's would talk twice a month in an attempt to resolve these issues.

Ms. Rice, greater people have tried to bring peace and they have failed. I think even God himself called them on a few occasions and negotiated some deal that failed. Nice try. I hope you didn't bill me for that trip.

The word babies and engagement seem to be everywhere lately. Is it just me?

It seems that everytime I click on Yahoo news I get at least three stories about abnormal animals in the "most popular" section. Is that what the world is really interested in? Maybe I need to refocus this blog...

***

Have you heard of the Pat Tillman story? Pat was a football player for the Arizona Cardinals who enlisted in the army 8 months after the September 11 attacks. He died in battle. First he was made out to be a hero, given a Silver Star and Purple Heart for dying at the hand (or barrel) of enemy fire. At some point down the line his family was informed that Pat actually died from "friendly fire" (that word cracks me up) when he was accidentally shot by another US soldier who thought he was an enemy. After he was shot both American and Afghan soldiers attended to him. His clothes was burned and the entire incident was covered up by the US Army. Until a few months later, when the truth came to light and now there are some serious questions about investigations, cover-ups and how deaths in this war are being handled.

No surprise. Lies! Lies!

Subprime Mortgages are causing people (especially in Florida) to lose their homes. Many adjustable loans fall into this category, where a lender offers a loan with a low introduction rate which jumps up after two years to a rate that the borrower could not afford and causes a default. Also, there are mortgages where you pay a low amount each month which actually takes away from the equity in your home. In some cases a person with a 90k mortgage could end up owing almost 300k after a few years. And the entire time, the borrower thinks they are paying their home and owning it when in fact they are losing their home to a shady business.

Really sad. I think I was offered one of these when I went shopping for a mortgage a few months ago. Luckily I passed it over and insisted on a fixed mortgage.

I checked out one of my favorite blogs, Cityrag, and saw a post entitled "Getting to the Maybe". The post had nothing to do with this blog so understandably there was no link to this blog. But still, I am a bit confused and yet flattered at the same time.

Two people (a non-married couple traveling together) both fell off a Princess cruise into the Gulf of Mexico a few days ago. They refuse to disclose the reason for their fall. The man who fell decided to stick around on the cruise after the fall and the woman decided to go back to land. The crew was informed by friends of the couple that they fell off the boat (how did the friends know??). The Captain immediately turned the boat around and spent 4 hours searching the waters. They were both found in the water with minor injuries.

So why won't they tell us what happened? Why did they fall off the boat? They are demanding privacy but it doesn't look like they are blaming the ship. Ohhhh I am so interested in hearing about this lover's quarrel!!!

Update on my New Year's Resolutions. I got Bubba's teeth removed. He now only has 2 teeth left. He is doing GREAT. He is very active and happy. I think he is a puppy again (or maybe just acting 12 instead of almost 15 years old). Anyway, I am so happy I went through with it even with all the risks that were involved.

Oh and that eating healthy diet thing....I am still at it. I think I have lost a few pounds but the clothes are still the same size. But, I haven't given up yet!! Now I just need to get to that exercise....

Should Britney Own It?

It has been just about a month that Britney shaved her head. But everytime she is out in public she puts on some wig to cover it up.

Do you think she should own the baldness and not wear a wig? I think she should! I mean, she made the decision to shave it off so be who you are! Sure you can grow it out and we can all watch as it looks uneven or whatever - but just be yourself. Don't you know the public loves you no matter what?

The End of Rome

No, I'm not talking about the fall of the Roman Empire. I am talking about the end of the HBO TV Series Rome.

Last night was the final episode of the Series. Fans (like myself) are sad to see the short lived (2 season) series go. The ending was a little dull, but tied up all loose ends. It was entitled "De Parte Vostro" (About Your Father).

Octavian got his victory. Mark Anthony and Cleopatra get to live their love out for all eternity thanks to mutual suicides (after Cleopatra first tricked Anthony into killing himself to save Egypt and her crown, but then realized Ocatvian has a dead soul, she then killed herself). Atia (still depressed) got to be Rome's first citizen and put little Mrs. Octavian in her place. Vorenus somehow lives over a month with a wound that should have killed him in an hour. He makes it home in time to make peace with his children. Pullo has a son (Caesarion - who was being displayed as Cleopatra and Caesar's son, but we all knew it was Pullo's all along) and Octavian believes Caesarion is dead so there is no threat to being the only heir of Caesar. (Where the title of the episode comes from - "About your father...")

It's very true that the show did not follow history exactly. Caesarion most definitely was killed by Octavian and Atia was not as cruel as the TV show made her out to be (among many other inaccuracies). But for the sake of drama (and the characters of Pullo and Vorenus) other story lines were created.

Overall the show was a success in my book. The characters were great, the sets (which were real Italian towns) were amazing and the storyline flowed. Of course it got all too expensive for HBO's taste and so it had to go. Long Live Rome!

Lost - Season 3, Episode 13 - The Man From Tallahassee

Hello fellow Lost fans!

Well, last night’s episode wasn’t quite up to caliber as the previous weeks. There were some strange happenings and more than a few scenes when I wanted to yell at the TV, but the chain reaction of events that will follow this episode will be very interesting to watch.

The episode starts with a flashback. John Locke is meeting with a woman in a government office. She’s asking him questions to ascertain whether the government should continue to pay his disability. John’s lower half is blocked by her desk and a wall partition so we don’t know whether this is pre- or post- wheelchair. The lady asks him if he still goes to therapy (again, we’re left to wonder, psychical or emotional?) and John, defiant, says No. The lady grabs the nearest stamp and purposefully stamps his form, denying him further disability insurance. John stands up and walks away.

On the island, we see Danielle Rosseau, Sayid, Kate, and Locke staring in gaping-mouth awe at Jack playing catch with Mr. Friendly and talking to Juliet. Danielle, in her typical way, says nothing and walks away to do her own thing. The three remaining follow Jack with binoculars and see him talking to Ben and going into his own room.

Kate is shocked. She believes Jack is drugged or being coerced in some way. Locke tries to reassure her. He says when he first saw Jack, he was running around helping people while one half of a plane burning above his head. So, Locke figures they should trust him. Sayid is ready to go back, saying Jack might not want to get rescued, but Kate is not ready to leave Jack behind.

They wait till nightfall and then approach the Barracks. Sayid and Locke guard outside while Kate walks in through an unlocked door. She hears music, a sorrowful piano tune. She walks down a hall to find Jack playing piano by himself. The look on her face – that of shock and disgust – is priceless. She waits a long time until Jack notices her. Finally, she says, “Hi.”

Jack jumps up. “What are you doing here?!” he shouts. He points up at a camera. “They’re watching me!”

Immediately, a nearby door is thrust upon and a few gun-toting guys come in with a captive Sayid. They take Kate prisoner and demand to know if anybody else is with them. She says No, of course.

(Aside #1: So, this whole “Let’s attack The Others!” and then get captured before the next commercial break thing is getting old. And what did I tell these guys about starting episodes with flashbacks?!)

Back in the past, a young man comes to see a younger, scruffier, John Locke at his depressing little apartment. He introduces himself as Peter Talbot and says his mother is about to marry a man named Adam Seward, but Peter doesn’t trust the man, so he did some snooping and found out the man’s real name is Anthony Cooper and John donated a kidney to him. Peter wants to know why. He seems genuine, he wants to trust this man, but he can’t. He wants John to say nice things about him. But John just says he doesn’t know the man and that the donation was anonymous.

Back at the Barracks, Ben is awakened by John Locke appearing in his room with a raised gun. Ben tells him he doesn’t need the gun, but John says he does. He wants to know where the submarine is. Ben says, “What submarine?” John smiles and says he knows about from Mikhail, whom he killed. Ben, of course, is not happy to hear that, but his focus is quickly returned to the moment when his daughter, Alex, enters the room and John takes her prisoner. There’s a knock on the door, it’s Mr. Friendly and Richard Alpert (the man who recruited Juliet in Miami). John and Alex go hide in the closet. (The closet? Really? Is this Friends?) Ben asks to see “The man from Tallahassee” and they leave.

John and Alex emerge from the closet and John demands that Alex go fetch Sayid’s pack. Ben agrees. He asks John to help him get into his wheelchair. But then he starts to pester John with questions, like, “How will you pilot the submarine?” A few moments later, Ben says that if John knows Mikhail, then he obviously found the communications center and the C-4. He figures out that John intends to blow up the submarine (like he blew up the Flame, and the Hatch, twice!). John laughs him off. “You don’t know me,” he says. Ben counters, “But I do know you, John Locke, I know you spent four years in a wheelchair before coming to this island.”

Back to the past (and – in case you didn’t watch the previews – that little comment from Ben would have told you that this was the episode we finally find out how John got into that wheelchair), John goes to see his father, Anthony Cooper, while Anthony and his fiancé are picking flowers for their wedding. John, angry, demands Anthony call off the wedding and leave the city immediately. He’s not going to let him con someone else like he conned him out of a kidney.

On the island, Kate is in a room with a pool table and video game machines. She’s trying to free her handcuffed hands from behind her back (she’s had lots of experience with this, lately) and succeeds. The door opens and Mr. Friendly gives her an un-friendly look and lets Jack in. Jack, mysterious as always, brings over a chair and stares at her. Kate asks him if he’s “with them now.” Jack shakes his head. “I’m not with anybody,” he says. He tries to comfort Kate, saying he has a plan that is beneficial to everyone. He’s leaving the island, per Ben’s promise, and he will come back with help to free everyone. Kate, obviously, doesn’t believe him.

In Ben’s room, John and Ben are reminiscing about when Ben was being held captive in the Swan station. Ben says he wanted to ask John so much about how he recovered. John says, “So ask me now.” Ben asks him if his ability to walk returned immediately upon arriving. John says Yes. John smiles again. He figures out that Ben is unhappy with his recovery, that if the Island has magical powers, why hasn’t those powers helped Ben recover quicker. Then, John asks Ben if he has any food.

Outside, Alex goes to a playground. Sayid is handcuffed to a metal railing. She goes to the guard and says her father asked for Sayid’s pack. The guard agrees (nobody bothered to check the pack, huh? Okay then…). Alex is about to leave when she notices Sayid staring at her. “What?” she says. Sayid whispers, “You look so much like your mother.” Alex is shocked. “My mother is dead.” But Sayid says, “I’m sure that’s what they told you.”

Back in the past, Locke returns to his apartment only to be met by two detectives. They ask him questions about Peter Talbot. Locke denies knowing him and then changes his mind, thinking it might not be a good idea to lie to police officers. They inform him that Peter Talbot is dead and that his family is worth about $200 million.

In Ben’s house, Locke is wheeling him into the living room. Ben says there’s some leftovers in the fridge. John finds a plate of chicken along with your usual Dharma Products. He asks Ben how they have electricity. Ben jokes that they have two giant hamsters underground. After that bit of humor, Ben gets serious and asks John not to destroy the submarine. He says it would cause a major problem for his people. He reveals that he was born on this island, but “many” of his people were not and that the ability to leave the Island is important to keeping them loyal.

Ben tries to entice John with the mysteries of the island. He says there is very large box somewhere that can manifest anything one might wish. (Aside: That goes along with many Lost theories about manifestations on the island, for instance the horse that Kate saw and the visions Mr. Eko had of his brother.) John then accuses Ben of being a hypocrite. He says the Others use guns and keep chicken leftovers and are not fully devoted to the Island. Ben shoots back that he has been here his entire life, how could John possibly “know” the Island better than he does. John says, “Because you’re in a wheelchair and I’m not.”

Back in the real world, John goes to see his father in a fancy high rise apartment that belongs to the Talbot. There’s glass windows everywhere overlooking a city. John is angry. He wants to know if Anthony killed Peter Talbot. He, of course, denies it. John then asks him what he’s still doing here when he promised John that he would leave. Anthony says his fiancé called off the wedding and he’s just trying to figure out a way to make some profit before he leaves. John isn’t happy with his answer. He threatens to tell Mrs. Talbot everything.

John’s father attacks John and pushes him out a window. John goes crashing through the glass and falls eight stories to the grass below.

In Ben’s house, Alex returns with the bag of C-4 and now John demands she take him to the submarine. Ben tries once more to change Locke’s mind about destroying the submarine. He says every since the anomaly made the sky turn purple, the underwater beacon that signals the island hasn’t worked. Whether he destroys the sub or not, it can never return, so why waste the energy? But Locke is determined (and the Lost writers can’t let their hero leave the show.) Alex leads Locke through the woods to an unguarded dock and the submarine and Locke gets in.

(Aside #2: Whoa there! There’s five guards on a bound Sayid but not one person guarding the submarine? Can you say PLOT HOLE?!)

Back in Ben’s house, Jack and Juliet come in and ask for one last favor. Jack wants his friends released and Ben, of course, agrees, saying “I’ll release them after you leave the Island.” Uh-oh.

In flashback land, the two detectives go to see John Locke in a hospital bed. He looks awful. His face is all kinds of shades of blue and red. They ask him questions about his father and says they know that Adam Cooper left to Mexico and that’s the last they heard of him. A nurse comes in and, despite John’s reluctance, lifts him and carries him into a wheelchair. John, knowing he will probably spend the rest of his life in this chair, starts to cry.

Near the dock, a soaked John Locke walks towards the jungle. A group of Others leading Jack and Juliet stop him and take him captive. John gives Jack a long look and says, “I’m sorry,” right before the submarine explodes behind them.

Next, we see Locke handcuffed to the ceiling in some industrial closet. Ben and Richard Alpert go to see him. Ben is overjoyed. He says that John did him a favor by destroying the sub. He doesn’t look weak in front of his people and now he gets to keep Jack and Juliet around. He asks Locke what it felt when his own father tried to kill him. Ben says he knows why John destroyed the submarine. He’s afraid of his father and this is the one place he can’t find him. Locke is unresponsive. He doesn’t feel like playing Ben’s mindgames.

They lead John down some wet corridors to a large metal door. They open the door and inside, John’s father, Anthony Cooper is bound and gagged.

Okay then. Although the episode was interesting as always and paced well, many of the revelations were weak. Everyone guessed John’s father caused him to be paralyzed way back in the first season, it just took them three Locke-centered episodes to get there. And John’s pyromaniac tendencies are getting a little ridiculous. Why must he blow up everything? The unguarded sub bugs me a lot, too. Also, I think the writers could have tried to be a little more inventive with the character of Peter Talbot and his murder.

As for Anthony Cooper being on the island, well, if it’s really him and not a manifestion of some kind, it will ring false, but then again there’s been so much this season that is unrealistic, what’s one more crazy coincidence?

The truth is, LOST is a science fiction series. And with any science fiction series, a level of creative license is crucial. In Star Trek, the characters use to spout pages of technobabble to make the storylines make a slim kind of sense (it was especially funny when dealing with time travel stuff). Lost is no different and shouldn’t be penalized for stretching their storylines. As my father likes to say, “We’ll see what happens.”

Peter Bjorn and John

The video above is the official music video for Peter Bjorn and John's excellent "Young Folks." It's the lead single off the album, Writer's Block. The album was released in Sweden (where they're from) in 2006, but it was only released in the U.S. in 2007 and seems to be taking over the collective mouths and ears of the indie rock generation. I can therefore call it one of the songs of the year!

The video is cute and was probably cheap to produce (way to be smart, Peter Bjorn and John!) and, of course, the song is instantly catchy and infectious.

The whole album is worth checking out. It's chock full of great melodies and musical surprises. I'd never heard of them before "Young Folks" was all over The Fork, but I'm a big fan of Swedish indie pop music (Radio Dept, Shout Out Louds, anyone?) and am glad Peter Bjorn and John are getting a lot of international attention.

Here's another video for their shoegazy power pop ballad:

"Objects of my Affection" is actually the first song on the album (second track, after a perfect little intro) and the first song I fell in love with. It sounds like the version used in this video is a slightly different mix. I haven't been able to find any reference online to a "single version" of this song, but there's definitely some minor additions and the mix itself seems a little cleaner than on the album.

Regardless, this is another great song. I love the line, "I laugh more often now, I cry more often now, I am more me." The video is perfect. Peter Bjorn and John seem to make music that is fit to be played in art galleries and the video, with its random imagery and constant movement, reminds me of a recent gallery hopping adventure.

Finally, another video, for the latest single from Writer's Block, "Let's Call It Off:"

Not exactly sure what's going on there, but it doesn't matter. The song's great, huh? Definitely a single version here. With the initial (Swedish) release of the album, the version of "Let's Call it Off" was darker and moodier. For some reason, the guys didn't like it, remixed it and released it on the American edition as the "Single version." That's the mix here.

The song is a lot more traditional than the other stuff on the album, which proves these guys are extremely talented. They can pull off wild seven-minute distortion heavy tracks, catchy indie anthems, and ready-for-radio singles. I wonder what else they have under their sleeves for future releases?

Are You Hot Enough?

Online Dating. Hate it or love it, it sets up dates for thousands of hopeful people.

But some people complain they can't find what they are looking for through online dating sites. Personalities don't match profiles. There are lies to make the dater look better. They aren't outgoing enough....They aren't HOT enough?

Yes. The superficial daters aren't looking for a description of the food you like or your religious background - they just want to know if you are hot enough!

And now an online dating site caters directly to that sentiment - Hot Enough.org

You submit your picture (actually, 3 pictures and one must be full body shot) and people vote on whether you are hot enough to join the exclusive club of online daters on this site.

You are only allowed to date if you score at least an 8.

At this point only about 25% are making it onto the site. But just because you think you are an 8 doesn't mean the public does...

Among those who didn't make the cut was Jeanette Ponder, a 28-year-old Internet blogger from East Orange who considered herself an 8 or 9. She said she applied because she thought it would make a good story.

"I got rated at like 5.7," she said. "When you put yourself out there in any situation, even if it's one which you're not taking seriously, it's going to sting."

But she also reasoned: "You cannot make a relationship by being arm candy."

So can it work? I know that often a picture can deceive and people are way hotter when under the right light than they are in person...but hey, if this site is helping people find love (or at least lust) then why not?

A Real Life Memory Eraser?

The movie "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (one of my all time favorite movies) is about a couple who separately undergo a treatment which zaps memories related to their former lover. It begs the questions - if you could erase a traumatic memory, would you?

Looks like this questions may be soon a reality for many people. A new pill has been created which may be able to erase memories.

The hope is that a post-traumatic stress disorder patient can work with a psychiatrist and focus a traumatic event, take one of these drugs and then slowly forget that event.

This type of pill can be used on war veterans, car accident survivors, rape victims or anyone else who has lived through an experience that continues to haunt their everyday lives.

Many ethical and psychological questions hang over this issue. Who has had a traumatic enough life to allow them to use this drug? Will personalities be altered by the erasing of memories? Does erasing a memory allow someone to move on?

If it was possible, would you erase the past?

Review: Michael's Genuine Food & Drink

New to Miami's Design District is Michael Schwartz's newest creation - Michael's Genuine Food & Drink. (130 N.E. 40th Street, Miami, FL 33137, (305) 573-5550)

Michael has a past connection to the famous restaurants in South Beach including Nemos (former partner and chef) and AfterGlo (chef).

This time Michael has gone "local" by focusing his dishes on locally grown and raised ingredients for his dishes. Think
Organic, Regional, Seasonal and Sustainable.

And instead of a classic menu with appetizers, salads and main dishes - he mixes it up by categorizing the food by the size of the dish - Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large, Snack, Side.

Overall the decor and food were "almost perfect." Why almost? According to Elad, because nobody would believe the review if it was called perfect.

Due to the variety in types of dishes, the prices range from less than $10 to more than $30. It all depends on what you are looking for. Elad and I tried to pick one from each category (except extra large) and shared everything - and we walked away very full and with a bill of about $63 - not including drinks or tip. The prices are affordable to encourage frequent dining.

We picked a "snack" to start. Deviled Eggs. An odd choice indeed, but hey it was on the menu! Tasty, but not the best of the evening. Elad may beg to differ because he has an affinity for those creamy filled eggs.

We had a panzanella salad (small) next. They mix a variety of rustic tomatoes with hard croutons and balsamic dressing for a sweet yet tart salad. Simple but a lot of flavor shines through.

Next up, mussels in a tomato and garlic broth (medium). The mussels were cooked and flavored perfectly. And the dish was quite large.

For the main event, skirt steak over a vegetable mix (large) and the roasted vegetable of the day - asparagus (side dish). Cooked perfectly and had a drizzle of a mustard-y sauce on top. Oh, and I forgot to mention, they have a thing for beets. They like to sneak them in whenever possible. We found some cooked beets (which were very yummy) beneath the steak.

Dessert? Of course! S'mores chocolate cake. Not a traditional s'mores over the campfire. This neat dessert stacked a graham type-cookie beneath a chocolate cake, beneath a layer of peanut butter and topped off with marshmallows that are put under a flame and roasted. The flavors mixed well - but really, how can you go wrong with chocolate and peanut butter?

And all the while the ambiance is simple, with large bright red cubes hanging from an industrial looking ceiling. A large painting of what may be John Lennon (still not sure about that) hung on the wall. There is an open kitchen were you can see a wood burning oven and chefs run around. In the background, modern jazz. Compliments the decor and food perfectly.

There is also an outdoor section of tables which seemed very quiet and comfortable. Right now in the Design District there is very little night life, and Michael's and Sheba are cornering the market (and the traffic) for dinner in the neighborhood.

They also have a large wine menu, signature drinks and a variety of beers. If you have to wait for your table then take a seat at the bar and enjoy.

I would totally recommend that you check out Michael's and try out as many dishes as possible. If you are on a budget and there are two people eating, stick to 3 small or medium dishes and skip dessert and you should find yourself not spending more than $20 per person. You may even be able to sneak in some snacks (which are only $4 each) or side dishes and still not break the bank.

But if you want to go all out - drinks, multiple courses, and dessert - expect to spend around $80-$90 for the evening. And expect to walk away very full and satisfied.

Insanity Is An Option

I am the owner of an LG High Efficiency all in one washer and dryer unit. It came with my apartment and I was really happy and excited about it the first time I saw it. It is small, it takes up very little energy and it is a laundry unit in my apartment!

Unfortunately for me, after a month of using it I started to hate it. I didn't like the amount of time it took to do a load (about 4 to 5 hours). I didn't like the way the clothes came out. I saw too many wrinkles and everything felt over-dry. And then finally, a sensor broke. Now I use it to stack pots and pans on top of it.

Over the past few months I have almost lost my mind over what to do with this machine. After it broke I called a number of repair companies. Most never heard of this type of machine (I guess it is too European for them) and when I finally found a company and made an appointment they never showed up.

My most recent decision was to give it to Charity. I called the Salvation Army and have been told they do not accept broken appliances.

I then considered trying to sell it in its current condition. But how do you put up a classified ad to sell something broken that I have no clue how much it will cost to fix. I don't have the heart to not tell someone how messed up the machine is.

So I went back to the first decision and tried to find another company to repair it. After being put on hold and hung up on a few times, I finally got through to a real person who was willing to give me an appointment. Unfortunately the appointment isn't until mid-April. I guess I have waited long enough for this thing to get fixed, so what's another month of waiting?

But now what do I do with this thing when it is fixed? Should I put it up on Craigslist and just try to recoup what I paid for the repair? What are people willing to pay for this type of machine? I believe I am about to lose my mind and I won't be at peace until this machine is only a distant memory.

Please help!

Wow it feels like a long time ago when I shared Pandora with you guys.

Well, it looks like the RIAA is working with the Copyright Royalty Board to impose insane fees on webcasts. This looks like it is the end of online radio - or at least for the small guys like Pandora.

Pandora discusses these issues further on their blog and links to some online petitions you can sign. Please go check them out and keep online music alive!!!

Here is one petition that links to tons more information.

Pax Jolie adds to the United Colors of Benneton theme

Angelina's adoption of the approximately 4 year old Vietnamese boy has gone through.

Though there are a lot of haters out there, I can't scorn a woman who opens her home to needy children. I don't care about her motives or the publicity that surrounds her beautiful brood. You can't dispute the fact that a poor child who would have otherwise known a life of limited opportunities is now going to be given more than most of us could ever dream of.

this part of the article brought tears to my eyes though:

"About two dozen children in traditional ao dai formal garb greeted them and offered flowers at the orphanage. Jolie left carrying the boy to a waiting van. "

Could you imagine being one of the children at the orphanage being told to go out and greet some wealthy, famous woman who's going to take one of your friends to live with her? I'm sure they're happy for Pax Thien, but I can't imagine how disconsolate and depressed they must feel at the moment. If it were me, I'd probably be thinking, but why not me too? Or maybe i'm just a brat that way.

Lost - Season 3, Episode 12 - "Par Avion"

The big question going into last night’s LOST was, Can the producers keep up last week’s momentum? Can they – for the first time this season – produce two good episodes in a row? The answer, in my opinion, is Yes. Although “Par Avion” did not have the suspense like last week’s action-packed, mythology-heavy episode, this episode had enough interesting revelations and progressive plot points to really get this thing moving. (finally!)

We start with the classic Lost opening shot, an eyeball. For the first time, though, it’s not a direct overhead shot. The angle is askew, the eyeball rolls drunkedly upwards. A girl with black hair blinks a few times and then opens her eyes. There’s a faint sizzle and cackle and hints of red on the girl’s skin.

It’s Claire, a younger version with jet black hair, and she’s in the driver's seat of an upturned car. The airbags have blown, their pillow-like balls deflated already. Half the windshield is missing. Consciousness returns to her face. She starts to realize what’s happening. She whispers, “Mom?” Panicked, she tries to force open the driver’s side door. It doesn’t budge. She climbs out the hole in the windshield and runs onto the street. Her mother is lying on the asphalt, her face bloody and her body still. Claire starts to cry, as a crowd gathers.

Eyeball again. This time, from the traditional overhead angle, so we know we’re back on the Island. Claire looks to the side to see a small tray of fruit in front of her and a little note that say, “G’Day!” Sleepy-eyed, she yawns and smiles.

Charlie enters, talking to Baby Aaron in his cheery baby voice. Claire is surprised by Charlie’s sudden brightness. “What’s with you, Charlie?” she asks. He’s been all doom and gloom for days and now suddenly he’s happy and cheerful. Charlie explains that he had a revelation this morning, instead of sulking around, he could seize the day (carpe diem!) and try and make the most of his time on the Island. He has a plan: leave Aaron with Jin and Sun and go have a picnic up the beach.

On the other side of the Island, the rescue party – Locke, Sayid, Kate, Rosseau, and their prisoner, Mikhail Bakunin – have stopped to talk about their progress. Sayid is studying the map taken from the Flame station. He’s trying to get Mikhail to offer some agreement or disagreement. They’ve been following the drawing on the map of electrical cables leading from the Flame to the Barracks, where the Others supposedly live. But Locke thinks they’re not going in the right direction. “The map is not accurate, more likely just a rough estimate.” Sayid shoots back quickly with a jab about Locke and his magic stick.

The two start to argue, until Kate intercedes by approaching Mikhail and asking me questions. Mikhail doesn’t respond and Locke asks, “Why are we keeping him alive? They won’t trade him for Jack!” Sayid responds with, “So you want to shoot him, like a dog?” “No,” Locke says, “I like dogs.”

Back on the beach, Charlie leads Claire (with her eyes closed) to the site of a picnic. Claire couldn’t be happier. A calm and clear day seems to be on the horizon. They don’t even have a chance to sit down before Desmond shows up and asks Charlie to join him on a boar hunt today. Charlie immediately goes all weirdo and says, “No,” instead opting to spend time with Claire, but he’s obviously curious to Desmond’s intentions. Claire notices the weird vibes and begins to ask them… Until she notices a flock of seagulls nearby. Her eyes light up. She says, “I think I know how to get us off this island!” Happily, she skips away, back towards the rest of the survivors, while Charlie and Desmond share a perplexed look.

Claire rushes back to camp. She goes up to Jin and Sun and asks them for some net and some fish to chop off to lure seagulls. Charlie and Desmond catch up. Charlie doesn’t understand Claire’s plan. “The birds are tagged!” she says. They’re migratory birds and they’ll fly south and someone will definitely find them. Finally they’ll have a way of communicating with the outside world. Charlie is still unresponsive. “I just don’t want you to waste your time,” he says.

In the past, dark-haired Claire is lying in a hospital bed. A police officer comes to ask her some questions. He asks her who was driving and Claire says she was. He asks her how fast she was going. Claire is offended. “We were hit by a truck!” She gets defensive, saying, “Don’t blame me!” The police officer explains he’s not assigning blame, but it’s procedure to ask these questions when there’s been a fatality. Claire gets even more offended. “My mom is not dead!” she shouts before the officer excuses himself.

In the jungle, the rescue party is walking through overgrown paths. Kate starts to ask Mikhail some questions. Rosseau tells her to save her breathe, that everything he says will be a lie. But, surprisingly, Mikhail starts to talk, to answer questions. He says he was recruited at the age of 24 and that he arrived on the Island by submarine. Kate asks him if they use the submarine to go back and forth off the Island. Mikhail says, “Yes, but not anymore. There was ‘an event.’ An electromagnetic pulse that has silenced the underwater beacon near the Island.” He speaks briefly about "The List" and how some people are on the list, and some people aren’t. Sayid accuses him of not knowing them and not able to judge whether they belong on any list or not. Mikhail shoots back with everyone’s real name. He even starts to talk about Locke, how he use to be “para-“

Rosseau cuts him off. “Look here!” she says.

The rescue party move away from underneath the trees and onto a huge clearing, dotted with metal pylons. There are round sensors at the top of each pylon and the pylons seem to stretch far in both directions. Hmm.

On the beach, Claire is working with Jin on their bird-catching net. Jin’s getting good with his English. When Claire asks him if this is going to work, Jin reassures her, “Yes. Work.” He then asks her to help Sun, who is carrying two large buckets of fish. They’re going to chop up the fish to create chum for the birds. Sun, smiling, says this is her mother’s worst nightmare, that she would end up with fish guts on her hands, married to the son of a fisherman. But then again, Sun says, “she never worked a day in her life.” Claire, sadness in her voice, says, “My mother was a librarian.” Sun is surprised by the comment, especially the past tense. But she doesn’t ask any more questions.

Back in the hospital, young Claire (she never actually gives her age, but I’m going to guess she’s suppose to be about 17) goes to see her mother. Her aunt is there and immediately challenges her, “Where have you been?” Claire says she went home to take a shower. “Oh good for you,” says the aunt. She obviously blames Claire for the accident. A doctor comes in and gives a diagnosis. It’s not good. Claire’s mother is in a coma and they won’t know the extent of the brain damage until she wakes up. “When will that be?” Claire’s aunt asks. The doctor shakes his head. “Could be a day, could be years.” Claire looks worried. “We can’t afford to keep her here,” she says. The doctor tells her not to worry, that all her mother’s medical bills have been taken care of. When Claire asks him by whom, he says he’s been asked to keep that confidential. Hmm.

Back on the Island, Claire, Jin, and Sun watch from a distance as a segull falls for their trap. Jin counts to three and is about to close the trap when a loud report sounds from the jungle. “Oh man!” Claire shouts. She jumps out of the jungle to find Desmond holding a rifle. He’s confused. He shot at a boar. “Oh yeah?” Claire asks, “Where is the boar?” Demsond doesn’t have an answer.

Near the pylons, the rescue party is locked in thought. They try to ask Mikhail what this is, but Mikhail asks Sayid what he thinks it is. Sayid says, “It seems to be a security perimeter.” They’re afraid to go near it. The round sensors will be able to pick up any movement and, well, they’re not sure what will happen next. There’s an easy way to find out, though. Locke takes off his pack and quietly walks behind Mikhail. He then shoves him forward into the security fence. Mikhail smiles and then turns around. He starts to make choking sounds and a white foam comes out of his mouth. His ears start to bleed and he collapses, dead.

Locke grinds his teeth and says, “Sorry.”

After a commercial break, Sayid and Kate start to accuse Locke of sabotaging their mission. “Why are you really here?” Sayid asks him. They start to look through Locke’s stuff and find some C4 taken from the Flame. More suspicions arise. Earlier, Locke had said he hadn’t known about the C4, otherwise he may have been more careful with the computer. Sayid and Kate are worried, what else could he be lying about?

Back at camp, a furious Claire approaches her tent and starts to ask Charlie where’s he been. He wasn’t with Desmond trying to sabotage her plan? Charlie says he was with Aaron the whole morning. Claire doesn’t believe her. And she doesn’t want her son to be near a liar. Once again, she tells Charlie to get lost.

In the past, Claire is walking through the hospital. A nurse informs her that a new doctor is with her mother, an American. Claire goes into her room. She sees a familiar face (to us, anyway). Claire’s aunt comes in and sees the man and tells him he doesn’t belong here. Claire starts to piece it all together. He’s the man who’s paying the bills. But, why? Claire’s aunt starts to throw a hissy fit. But the man says, “Claire has a right to know!” The man says, “Claire, I’m your father.”

Meanwhile, Locke and Sayid are chopping down a tree. At first, I thought they were going to try to jump over the barrier, but instead they use the tree as a makeshift ladder to climb over the barrier. It’s a risk, of course, that it won’t work or that they’ll fall off. But, Kate goes first and has a pretty easy time with it. Locke and others follow.

Back in Australia, Claire is working in a piercing shop. Mr. Shepard walks in and asks her out for a cup of coffee. Claire refuses, saying she doesn’t want to have anything to do with him. But, he begs her, saying, “one cup of coffee and I’ll be out of your life forever.” So she agrees. They talk over a cup in a busy shopping mall. He says that he and Claire’s mother had a “fling,” but that he visited her often when she was a baby. He brought her toys and sang to her. But Claire’s aunt didn’t like the fact that he had another family and he stopped visiting.

He starts to talk to her about her mother, about how they shouldn’t keep her alive “for the wrong reasons.” How pulling the plug would be illegal, but he knows other ways to relieve her pain. Claire is disgusted. She yells at him, “You’re suppose to be my father, but I don’t even know your name. And I don’t want to know!” She storms away.

On the Island, Claire is following Desmond across some rocky crags. He seems intent on his destination. Finally he reaches the end of a trail and starts to climb over a rock. Claire reveals herself, but Desmond says, “shh!” He reaches down and picks up a seagull. Claire is happy for a moment (just a moment!), before turning into her untrusting self again. She starts to badger Desmond with questions. “You knew exactly where you going! How did you know the bird would be here?” etc. Desmond plays the fool at first, but Claire doesn’t give up. Finally, Desmond glances at a nearby rock. “That is where Charlie falls, gets hit by a rock, and dies.”

In the final flashback scene, a blond, pregnant, Claire goes to see her mother. “There’s something I been meaning to tell you,” she says, “I’m pregnant.” She then breaks out in tears, apologizing for everything. Apparently, her and her mother were arguing in the car on the day of the crash. Claire had told her she wanted her to die. That must have been why she took the blame for the crash when it seemed like her mother was in the driver’s side. She cries for awhile, hopeful her mother might stir and wake up, but she doesn’t.

Back at camp, an apologetic Claire, with a seagull in her hands, goes to find Charlie. She says, “Desmond told me everything.” Together, they write a note to tie to the seagull’s leg, explaining about the crash, the heading they had been on, and the fact that they’ve been stranded for 78 days. They release the bird. Claire takes Charlie’s hand and says they will work together and that she has not given up hope on him. She’s not the lose hope type, apparently.

In another section of heavy brush, Locke, Sayid, Kate, and Rosseau are quietly searching an area. Sayid whispers, “We’re here.” They move into a small patch of ground behind some bushes. Ahead, they can see Otherville, ramshackle huts and people plowing and mowing. There’s a child running and a woman on a bicycle.

From between two bushes, they see a sweating Jack running towards them. Kate almost jumps up, but the others hold her down.
